Deerwood Estates Shoreline Debris Barrier

About This Project
This US Army Corps of Engineers project will protect thousands of feet of privately owned shoreline from the ever-increasing volume of large tree-trunks and other heavy debris coming down the re-channeled Trinity River in upper Lake Livingston.
This relatively new accumulation of sediment is causing upriver bank erosion from the increasing water currents along shore during heavy rains from Trinity to Dallas.
The project will be composed of large 10″ butt round piles driven into the lake bottom with huge 4×12 timbers bolted to them using heavy 1″ galvanized bolts.
The gently meandering design with specially-designed angled ends and boat traffic openings – will protect the shoreline from both high-velocity river channel flotsam from the north – and wind-born debris from the south when the river is at it’s normal summer level near +131.0′
The old historic shoreline buildup you can see in this satellite photo will be pulled out with a 63′ excavator and manually with cables & chains before and during the piledriving for this new heavy protective barrier.
